Who We Are

Dr. Michael Daly has spent his entire career working on various types of instrumentation.  He has worked in the areas of magnetics and ultrasonics and laser optics prior to finding his way into space instrumentation and planetary science.

Dr. Daly spent more than a decade working at Canada’s largest space company with whom he enjoys continued collaborations. While there, he led the development of Canada’s first instruments on another planet - The Phoenix meteorology instruments. His current interests include optical instrumentation including lidar for planetary mapping and microscopic imaging.

Professor Daly is the lead scientist developing the OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter (OLA).  OLA will provide unprecedented topographical measurements of the Asteroid 1999RQ36 (Bennu).
